Jane Burton Taylor's art practice is multidisciplinary and incorporates photography, film, sculpture and installation. She has an ongoing interest in place and how we perceive it, personally, socially, and it terms of architectural archetypes. She is often drawn strongly to either a place or a structure, and then evolves works around this place or space. It is a pursuit that allows her to draw links between past and contemporary civilisations and universal human drives. Much of her work is initiated in response to local and global environmental and political situations, in particular race relations and the flawed workings of democracy worldwide. Materials the artist works with include paper, fabric, bees wax, recycled plastic, ice, timber and steel.
