Clean Washing was made for Hidden: Rookwood Cemetery Sculpture Walk. It is an iconic suburban Hills Hoist, hung with handkerchiefs donated by local women, and hand-printed with images of cosmic events and discoveries made dating back to Rookwood’s beginning. The work reminds people of the everyday reality of death, it happens in our own backyard. By using handkerchiefs, the artist suggests the cleansing power of the grieving process. The cosmic occurrences, recall our connection to the universe.
